Learn more about CCIPPA at poultry forum

The Cariboo-Central Interior Poultry Producers Association (CCIPPA) will be holding a forum March 24

The Cariboo-Central Interior Poultry Producers Association (CCIPPA) will be holding a forum sponsored by Viterra ProForm, at the 100 Mile Curling Club Lounge on March 24.

A full day is scheduled with panel sessions, display tables and keynote speaker Dr. Bill Cox, Ministry of Agriculture poultry health veterinarian.

This is open to the general public, as well as producers, retailers and supporting businesses, says CCIPPA director Margaret Bishop.

"We are looking for new members and this would be a good way for people to learn what we are all about."

The day starts at 8 a.m. with registration and opening remarks are from 8:45 to 9 a.m.

Then there are three scheduled panel sessions with topics ranging, including marketing to local commercial buyers, do's and don'ts of bringing poultry to slaughter, and looking ahead at 2012.

"One of the discussions will be on the mobile procession unit and docking stations that we are building in this area. There is a docking station at New Cal Rabbit farms where producers can bring their chickens or rabbits for example, unload them and have them dispatched."

Bishop adds the docking stations and mobile procession units are government inspected.

The association is looking for pre-registration of $25, but will accept registration at the door, including dinner for $25, which starts at 5 p.m. The annual general meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
