The Lake of the Trees (LOTT) Bible Camp annual spring auction has been a local institution for the past 12 years, but organizers have opted to put it on the shelf for now, in favour of a fall fundraiser.
The bible camp auctions have raised in the neighbourhood of $100,000 over the years, with the money used largely to pay for camp improvements.
LOTT director Tom McIntosh says board members feel a fall fundraiser will be more successful in attracting support and be a better time for constituents to become involved.
He says the need to raise money is still very much there, especially in the area of sponsorship for children who could not otherwise afford to attend camp.
"We have never turned a child away because they couldn't afford to pay the camp fee."
A single registration sponsorship is valued at $200.
Also on the needs list is a generator for back-up power if there's a power outage, a replacement speedboat for water sports and a camp vehicle for transporting people and supplies to and from the camp.
It is possible to make online cash donations to the camp by going to www.lakeofthetrees.com.
