Canlan Ice Sports has put on a summer Chef Camp for children aged eight to 13 years.
Many youths joined the camp to learn the art of cooking. They met each day at 100 Mile House Junior Secondary in the home economics room.
Some of the many things the camp chefs made were delicious whip cream and chocolate pudding fruit parfaits, scrumptious dessert squares and yummy chicken fingers.
Instructor Linda Jefferson says she has been cooking since she was eight years old, and she likes making dinners and baking desserts for her family. She enjoys sharing her cooking knowledge with the young chefs because they make the kitchen fun and lively.
"Each day we discussed nutrition, how to have balanced meals, kitchen safety, manners and all food groups."
Eight-year-old Kolten Lindner has been making lunches and dinners for his family since he was six. Lindner says he will definitely be cooking the chicken strips and making the parfaits for his family at home.
Logan Hendry, 8, says he likes to cook breakfast and joined the camp to eat some tasty food and learn how to make it.
Hannah Lindner, who is 10 years old, says she joined because she likes to make things for her mom.
She adds it is fun and would like to join the camp again if they offered it again. Her favourite dish that they made was the fruit parfait.
This is just one of the great summer camps that Canlan Ice Sports puts on that gives youths something to learn while they have fun.
