The 100 Mile House & District Women's Centre Society's shelter program will be the recipient of $700.55.

Many generous people made for a busy and very successful garage sale fundraiser put on by Royal LePage 100 Mile Realty in front of its office during the Aug. 10 South Cariboo Farmers' Market.

Realtor and fundraiser co-ordinator Ron Kelly says a lot of people were not accepting their change.

"One lady bought something worth $10 and gave me $20, and when I tried to give her the change, she said 'no, no, it's for charity'."

The biggest example of the generosity was a man who overpaid significantly, he adds.

"Two men saw a Humminbird fish finder, and asked the young lady who brought it in how much she thought it was worth. She said 'how about $20?' The first man walked away, and the other said 'that's not enough, here's $50'.

"It makes you feel good."
