It’s time to play

Calling all dads, foster dads, step dads, grand dads and uncles

Father figures are invited to bring their children to a fun event at the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre (CFEC) at 486 Birch Ave. in 100 Mile House on May 24.

It’s called Daddy and Me and it is held every fourth Saturday of the month. The next event goes from 9 to 11 a.m.

This is a fun event for dads and their kids to play, have a great breakfast and share the joys and challenges of parenting, says Lisa De Paoli, CFEC executive director.

“Studies demonstrate that children with involved fathers have better cognitive, emotional, and social development outcomes.”

Children thrive when they have an involved father, grandfather or father figure – someone who loves them, knows them, guides them and helps them to achieve their destiny, De Paoli explains.

“Love is more about commitment and determination than feelings. One of the best messages a father can give his kids is “I love you just like you are. You don’t have to prove anything to me.”

We invite “dads” and their children to join us on May 24 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the CFEC (next to Home Hardware), De Paoli says.
