Involve Our Youth seeking youth media correspondent

Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre seeking correspondent for Involve Our Youth program

As part of the commitment of youth and community engagement in the South Cariboo, the Involve Our Youth (IOY) council is looking for an eager participant to become its media correspondent.

The IOY project is managed by the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre (CFEC), and is a youth-led initiative to foster youth engagement in the South Cariboo.

Project co-ordinator Bithia Chung-Harris says they are putting together a youth council in 100 Mile House that will liaison with other special interest groups in the area to ensure youth are connected to various community events.

The media correspondent will play an important role by ensuring youth activity is accurately documented and distributed to the proper outlets, she adds.

The youth must be between the ages of 15 and 19 and will have the opportunity to have his or her work published in the 100 Mile House Free Press, have the opportunity to speak on local radio, as well as manage digital media, including Facebook and Twitter, Chung-Harris explains.

“This really is a great experience for one or two local youth.”
