Interlakes’ young figure skaters excelled at the annual Cariboots ‘N Blades at Williams Lake, Feb. 3-5.

Amber Conway and Alice Lanzoni, both aged seven, competed in the Performance program, which gives report cards rather than medals, and “Alike” received a bronze star.

“Alike” also completed in Team Manoeuvres, and the four-skater team from the 100 Mile area had to perform four elements. They came third of six entries.

Giorgia Lanzoni, 11, competed in Primary Creative and won silver, while Brittany Boyd, 12, competed in Bronze Creative and came away with gold.

Giorgia competed in Pre-Preliminary Freekskate and placed fourth out of 12.

Brittany came seventh of 14 in Preliminary Freeskate, but was competing against older girls who are further advanced in jumps, so she was happy to place as high as she did. She also competed in Preliminary Spins and earned gold.

The pièce de résistance was Brittany and Giorgia as Raggedy Ann and Andy in their Preliminary Showcase Duet, for which they won yet another gold medal.

Since then, the girls, both also members of the Kamloops Skating Club (KSC), were thrilled to learn that KSC had awarded them the High-Point Trophy.

Well done, girls, your community is proud of you all.

Bridge Lake Fair’s “roving” trophy for 2012 will be for Best of Photograph.

There are dozens of camera-happy people in this area, aided and abetted by Mother Nature, so there should be some astonishing shots.
