Creekside Seniors Activity Centre recently received 511 paperback novels for the enjoyment of local seniors.

Isabelle Ferguson, a senior who says she reads a lot herself, donated the mint-condition books with the help of Care Right Home Care Services owner Priscillia Remanente.

"It was so generous of her to do this. It's also neat Creekside can take these books to offer for seniors, and has space for them, and for reading, too."

An avid reader who belongs to several monthly book clubs, Ferguson says she receives at least eight books a month and accumulated the 511 donated novels during the past five years, most of them with intrigue and historical romance themes.

"I've read them all. I love reading."

Creekside volunteer Renata Cargnelotti appreciates the donated books and says it is the "best place for them to get well used."

She adds some of the novels also offer larger print.

Cargnelotti notes if anyone has books, which are in good condition, and are in themes geared for men, they would make a nice addition to balance the newly-expanded library collection.
