In the summer it seemed normal to hear water bombers and helicopters, a person gets used to the sound.

Last week on Wednesday and Thursday I heard them again!

After a few calls on the first day, I could not find out a thing.

The next day I was able to find out. Turns out that the two fertilizer trucks I saw parked at the beginning of Spout Lake Road were busy transferring the contents into a box type truck and helicopters were being used to spread the fertilizer out past Timothy Lake way. I must admit I had a moment of panic not knowing if there was another fire or not!

100 Mile Shooters at arena

Once again all the action seemed to be happening in the arena these past two weeks.

All the main scheduled skating events ran as well the 100 Mile Shooters held their fall tournament on Nov. 11 and 12. The volunteers were stretched pretty thinly so if you could or would like to learn how to drive the Zamboni please contact George Lee on his cell at 250-644-6412. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Christmas hampers

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Lac la Hache Volunteer Fire Department have made plans for their annual Christmas Hamper program.

Donation boxes have been placed around at different locations so let’s all try and fill them up!

Christmas bingo

There aren’t too many Wednesdays left till we have our Christmas Turkey Bingo on Dec. 13. The bingo then will be shut down until Jan. 17 or so depending on weather conditions.

This arranged holiday break usually covers all the really cold weather and perhaps even the icy roads!

Christmas concert

I haven’t heard any news about the activities at the Elementary School, but I do know that the students are actively participating in the skating program each Friday afternoon. This year the Christmas Concert will be held on Dec. 15 at the Community Hall immediately following a spaghetti fundraiser dinner and silent auction. If you have any items to donate to the auction, please contact the Elementary School for drop off instructions.

Musical talent night

The church sponsored coffeehouse is having a musical talent night at the Pioneer Center on Dec. 15. Any voluntary contributions will be donated to the Lac la Hache Volunteer Fire Department.
