The Green Lake Snowmobile Club’s (GLSC) annual Winterfest Poker Ride on Feb. 8 was a great success.

Snow conditions were not the best, but there was a good turnout – 32 sleds and 34 participants.

The 41-kilometre loop took around 75 minutes to complete. The riders travelled through all types of conditions, including groomed trails, puddles and even a few bare patches.

This event would not be possible without all the volunteers who groomed and cleared trails, gathered door prizes, manned the kitchen and registration booth.

More than 40 local merchants donated door prizes for the best poker hands. The top 3 poker hand winners were: first, Eddie Kennedy of Lone Butte; second, Rosella Infante of 100 Mile House; and third, Sandy Jamieson of South Green Lake.

It was nice to see the clubhouse full of family, friends and neighbours who enjoyed the hamburgers and hotdogs donated by A&W, and pop, water and condiments donated by Save-On-Foods and Safeway. There were many compliments on the new addition of washrooms, which greatly enhance the facilities.

Del Westfall did a fabulous job of selling 50/50 tickets and the lucky winner was Lyle Jones.

The net proceeds of this event ($1,200) went to the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities.
