With pole-walking all the rage, Bridge Lake Community School (BLCS) is leading
such a walk on Saturday, March 12 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bring a water
bottle and adjustable poles if possible or borrow them from the school.

one, a second will be held on April 16.

held at 7 p.m., March 29, and April 5 and 12. The course fee is $50 and
space is limited.

Fair changes
Bridge Lake Fair organizers have announced that this year's fair will
provide an inaugural "roving" trophy, meaning that it could be awarded in
any section. For 2011, this roving trophy will be awarded to the Best of
Show Needlework.
In addition, mostly due to the time involved in computations, there will be no
People's Choice awards this year.
At the end of the fair, those entrants who wish to donate their entries (such
as flowers, vegetables, wine, etc.), will be asked to place them on a table
outside the hall. Anyone may then make a donation and take what they
wish. All proceeds of this table will go to Roe Lake & District Recreation
Commission who generously provide use of their hall and grounds for free.
Bundle of joy
Residents send many congratulations to Martina (Lendi) Messner and her
husband, Toby, on the Jan. 21 birth of their daughter, Kyra.
Martina immigrated from Europe in her youth and was schooled at Bridge
Lake, so is very well known at Interlakes.
Condolences
Condolences are extended to family and friends of Alex Kirkwood who
passed away Feb. 9 just before his 85th birthday. Alex and his late wife,
Irene, ran Aunt Jessie's B&B at Bridge Lake for many years.
I extend my sincere personal sympathy to the family fo Laura Thomson
who passed away Feb. 16. A lovely lady, Laura was my roommate in 100
Mile Hospital for the latter part of January, at which time I met many
members of her family.
Celebrations
Champagne and caviar goes to Joanne Levick who celebrates her 75th birthday March 14. Birthday bubbly goes to Roy Tomlinson for March 15, while Sierra Dorward gets four big balloons on March 10. Many congratulations on Linda and Al Bishop's 50th wedding anniversary on March 11.
