Free Breakfast with Santa in Valley Room, Dec.

100 Mile House and area children 12 years and under, parents invited

There will be a Breakfast With Santa event in the Valley Room (behind the Red Coach Inn) in 100 Mile House on Dec. 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. – doors open at 8:30 a.m.

Organizer Val Streber says it is a free event for children in 100 Mile House and area and it's open for youngsters 12 years and under and their adult(s).

"We'll be serving pancakes and sausages and juice boxes, and coffee and tea for the parents. Kid's are invited to bring their adult with them, and they can visit with Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas."

Santa will be giving each of the children a candy cane when they talk to him, she adds.

Streber says parents are invited to bring their own cameras or phones to take photographs, so they don't have to pay for their children's photos with Santa.

Noting there are free events like this one in the areas around 100 Mile House but not here, Streber says she decided to put one on locally.

"I'm a grandma and I like to see kids happy, so I decided to put on an event. I used to volunteer a lot years ago, but this is just a grandma putting on a breakfast with Santa for the kids."

She adds there have been a lot of donations – in kind or money – from local businesses and organizations to help out with the event.

A volunteer crew has stepped up to cook and serve at the breakfast, Streber says, adding a couple of Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School students volunteer and will likely end up being elves.

"I'm hoping to have a sing-along, and Santa will be singing, too."
