Forest industry important

National Forest Week celebrated in Cariboo, Sept. 22-28

National Forest Week is being celebrated in the Cariboo and across Canada this week.

During National Forest Week, from Sept. 22-28, Canadians have the opportunity to learn more about Canada’s forest heritage and to raise awareness about this important renewable resource. The theme of this year’s National Forest Week is The Greenest Workforce, highlighting the work of forest professionals and practitioners.

“Our forests are an important natural resource for us here in the Cariboo, and our forest industry remains strong despite the effects of the Pine Beetle epidemic,” says Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett, parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations for Rural Development.

“During National Forest Week, let’s take the time to appreciate our forests and everything they provide for us, and to thank our forest workers for their dedication and their hard work.”
