The Missoula Children’s Theatre arrived at Mile 108 Elementary School to hold auditions for the upcoming presentation The Pied Piper

There is a set, lights, costumes, props, makeup - everything it takes to make a play, except the cast.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) arrived at Mile 108 Elementary School on May 7 to hold auditions for the upcoming presentation of an original musical adaptation of The Pied Piper.

“Missoula Children’s Theatre is an excellent opportunity for our students to experience musical theatre first-hand," says co-ordinator Tanya Guenther.

"The MCT tour directors/actor arrive in their little red truck and have everything needed for a week-long rehearsal schedule, which culminates in a fabulous performance at the end of the week."

Students auditioned on Monday morning, Guenther says, adding casting will be done at the audition. Approximately 50-60 students will be in the production, she says, adding there will be two performances held at the end of the week.

MCT residency at Mile 108 Elementary is brought by the Mile 108 Parent Advisory Council, says Guenther, and includes four enrichment workshops presented by the tour actor/directors.

Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this project.

The May 11-12 performances of The Pied Piper at the school's gym, start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, and they are available at 108 Esso or at the door.
