The Third Annual Friends of Bridge Lake (FoBL) fishing derby is June 11.
The entry fee is $10, FoBL president Jim Dunbar says, adding it includes one grand prize draw ticket. Additional prize draw tickets can be purchased separately for $5 each.
"The money is going to the Bridge Lake School and [Parents Advisory Council] to help keep the community school going."
Prizes for the derby will be awarded for the heaviest rainbow trout and kokanee, but there won’t be prizes for lake trout, he says, adding people can start fishing at dawn but weigh-in periods are between 10 a.m. and noon, and from 2 to 4 p.m. at Moondance Bay Resort.
Prizes are: first, fishing gear worth $200 and $100 cash; second, fishing gear worth $100 and $50 cash; and third, fishing gear worth $100.
The grand prize draws will be held after the fishing derby awards, around 4:30 p.m.
They include: a Harrison Hot Springs Resort Stay & Play Package for two; gift certificates; fly box with hand tied flies; handcrafted canoe paddle; and more. All donated by British Columbia businesses and local craftspeople, Dunbar says.
