First responder call-outs suspended

Community news happening around North Green Lake and Watch Lake

This is to inform the residents of Watch Lake and North Green Lake that the Watch Lake-North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) had to suspend all first responder call-outs until further notice.

Due to the loss of a valuable firefighter and first responder, this left the department with only seven responders, five of whom currently work during the day, leaving only two first responders, one at Watch Lake and the other at North Green Lake to answer emergency calls. They too are not always available.

The decision was made on Jan. 22 to inform dispatch in Prince George that this service will not be available for now.

The department will respond to all motor-vehicle incidents, as well as fires.

It is very important that we have this up and running soon, so the department is asking, once again, that if anyone in our area is interested in becoming a first responder, please contact acting fire chief Andy Palaniak at 250-456-7460 or first responder Gisele Poliseno at 250-395-9082 for more information.

Remember, no new members may mean no service.

Congratulations

The WLNGLVFD congratulates Candace Tyler and this writer for completing the Air Brake Course and “acing” their practical exam, which was held at 100 Mile House Fire-Rescue on January 13-15.
