Come and join us at the Firefighter’s Appreciation Dinner to show our gratitude to the firefighters of the Watch Lake/North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD).
The WLNGLVFD Auxiliary is planning this event on Oct. 22 at the Watch Lake Community Hall. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and a potluck dinner will be served at 6.
The auxiliary will be supplying the turkey and ham for approximately 80 to 90 people. If you are interested in attending, call Gisele at 250-395-9082 or Joni Guenther at 250-456-7330 to let us know how many are coming, as well as, what food item you would like to bring for dinner.
It is a Halloween theme, so if you would like to dress up in a costume that would be wonderful, but it is not compulsory. The deadline for the final count is Oct. 20 for setting up purposes.

Residential signs
I have been notified through the Lions Club the residential signs should be in around Oct. 13-14.
As soon as the signs arrive, I will call all the residents who have ordered them to arrange a date for pickup, delivery and even help to put the signs up.

WLNGLVFD call-outs
Mid-September onward was busy for the WLNGLVFD with numerous call-outs due to high winds that toppled several trees onto power lines and created many fires, including a grass fire.
Firefighters also responded to a mutual aid call with Lone Butte Volunteer Fire Department to deal with a chimney fire.
Celebrations
Family and friends would like to wish Helen Monk a happy belated birthday, as she celebrated her special day on Oct. 3.
A bubbly birthday wish goes to Vito Burtini for Oct. 25.

* Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association’s next meeting is on Oct. 17 at the Watch Lake Community Hall. Social at 7 p.m. and the meeting commences at 7:30.
* Watch Lake & District Women’s Institute meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at the Watch Lake Community Hall. Social and crafts at 11 a.m.; meeting at 12:30 p.m. Bring a lunch.
