Guy Poliseno resigned as fire chief from the Watch Lake-North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) on Jan. 22.
He says it was a very difficult decision for him to make. He served on the department for five years, first as a training officer then became the fire chief and was also a first responder and instructor.
Poliseno had a vision as to what the fire department should be like, and with his hard work, long hours and true dedication, he accomplished most of this. He will be sadly missed by all and the firefighters and first responders wish him the very best in his new adventure.
Andy Palaniak is now acting chief of the fire department until a chief has been elected. If you would like to become a firefighter or first responder, please contact him at 250-456-7460.
AGM slated
The Watch Lake/Green Lake Association’s annual general meeting (WLGLA) is scheduled for Feb. 20 at the Watch Lake Community Hall.
The social is at 7 p.m. and the meeting commences at 7:30. New executive members needed, so if you are interested, please contact Eleanor Bulman at 250-456-7510.
Fire department AGM
The WLNGLVFD’s annual general meeting is on Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Watch Lake Community Hall.
Agenda items will include the president’s report, secretary’s report, treasurer’s report, chief’s report and elections of directors. Refreshments will be served.

A get-well wish goes to WLNGLVFD member Ron Guenther, who is currently fighting leukemia in Vancouver General Hospital.
