The Lake of the Trees Bible Camp in Forest Grove hosted an action-packed Family Day with hockey and snow slides and a lunch.

“It’s just a time for people to get out and hang out and see our facilities and enjoy it out here,” said Mirko Blahut, facility manager. “It’s a beautiful spot.”

Hot chocolate, coffee and snacks were also available and the lunch was by donation.

The skating rink was bigger than usual because the first one got lost in the snowfall during Feb. 6-8. Blahut and the camp worked hard to get a rink back, but otherwise, nothing changed from previous Family Days at the camp.

Blahut estimated that 50-70 people came to the Family Day event, which the camp has been running since the province adopted the holiday in 2013.

“There are quite a few kids who come to camp in the summer and families who are involved here in the camp, then we have a lot of people who curious what we’re all are about and just want to come on out and see it. It’s a great opportunity to come out and see what we’re all about,” said Blahut. “It’s nice because it’s low-key, it’s not overhyped or anything. It’s just come out and relax and hang out and get to know people, try to make it as relational as possible in that sense.”
