The Fifth Annual EDGEFEST takes place Aug. 26-28 to raise funds for local charities.
Live music will feature the renowned AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck from Vancouver and local band Missing Links, says organizer Lori Graham who also hosts the event with her partner Dave Maplethorp.
Graham adds most folks really enjoy the event once they try it.
While the location is a "little out of the way," she notes it's a benefit when it comes to making noise and having fun.
The event kicks off on Aug. 26 with a mix and mingle and yard games at 6026 Dempsey Lake Rd., 18 kilometres east of Highway 97 via the Spring Lake Road turnoff to the 111 Mile Valley.
A poker run on Aug. 27 starts from the Red Rock Grill parking lot at 11 a.m. and winds up with last card at the event grounds and the concert.
Bring your camping gear, food, refreshments, and a dish for a potluck dinner on Saturday night, and extra ice is appreciated.
Plenty of room is available for RV's and tents (no utility hook-ups), with outdoor fridges and a large communal barbecue and fire pit.
There is access to the lake for cooling off, but Graham notes there is no boat launching.
No pets are allowed, no minors unless under the control of a parent or guardian, and no individual campfires.
A $30 gate fee applies and all proceeds go towards the 100 Mile House District Hospice Palliative Care Society, the local SPCA and the Lac la Hache arena/minor hockey, she explains.
A food vendor and volunteers are still needed for the event, so call 250-791-7303 or e-mail elf.on.the.edge@gmail.com if you can help.
