Eclectica holding registration session

Eclectica Community Choir expects to sing its way into spring and the first order of business will be to hold registration

Eclectica Community Choir expects to sing its way into spring and the first order of business will be to hold registration for the next session, which runs from January to June.

Registration is on Jan. 11 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the 100 Mile United Church.

The cost to join is $25 and Helen Lennox-Lau, Eclectica planning team co-chair, explains the fee covers the cost of music for the choir and rental of Martin Exeter Hall for its spring concert.

The group restricts its performances to benefit concerts only, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to charity. For that reason, it relies on member fees and grants to operate.

The group currently numbers 68 members and they hold practices on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. at the United Church. Lennox-Lau says it's always fun.

"We have a lot of laughs and our director Jasmine Kreschuk is very good at what she does. We don't take things too seriously, but serious enough to learn."

Lennox-Lau says the choir is in particular need of male tenors and basses.

The Eclectica performance calendar includes participation in the Parade of Choirs in Williams Lake in late February. It is expected to include about six separate choirs and proceeds from the concert will be donated to charity.

Eclectica's second and final performance of the season will its spring concert, slated for May 27 in 100 Mile House.
