Dr. Art Hister was a hit at the Martin Exeter Hall on May 15

It was close to a full house at the Martin Exeter Hall for the Dr. Art Hister presentation May 15.

Wanting to raise awareness as well as money, the South Cariboo Health Foundation (SCHF) brought the "media doctor" to town.

"Dr Art is so funny," says SCHF member Brenda Devine.

"Everyone who attended got their money's worth. He had very interesting facts and a wonderful slide show."

The audience was a good mixture of men and women of all ages. Devine adds Hister was impressed with the warmth of the crowd and the theatre itself, saying it was a little "jewel" and had "state-of-the-art" sound.

SCHF works exclusively through fundraising and donations, says Devine, and the foundation really wanted to raise awareness so the public would know exactly what they do.

By having Hister give the presentation, Taking Control of your Life: an easy guide to a longer and healthier life, they were hoping to reach both goals, says Devine.

"All the money raised from the Dr. Art show, about $4,000, stays in 100 Mile House area. It will go towards the hospital’s wish list, which include the 100 Mile District General Hospital lobby renovations.
