DL&DVFD firefighters will be collecting food, cash donation

Donations collected on Nov. 2 will held less-fortunate families

Deka Lake & District Volunteer Fire Department (DL&DVFD) has set Nov. 6 for its annual Food Drive.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., firefighters will go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items or cash for Interlakes Christmas Giftboxes.

If you will not be home, donations may be left at the fire hall that day.

Cold weather preparation

Wood heat season is upon us.

It’s time to make sure your chimney is clean. You must use the right size and material of brush if you want it to be done properly.

Do not let ashes build up to more than two inches in your stove. Check your smoke alarms and batteries to make sure they are in good working order.

Guest artiste

Horse Lake’s Maureen Hadden is the guest artiste in Bridge Lake Library’s Community Showcase for October.

She is expected to display her knitted creations.
