The O.U.T. (Other Unusual Talents) Group members posed for a photo after their Christmas cookie exchange and potluck luncheon. The group membership has grown significantly during the past year.

The gals at the local O.U.T. (Other Unusual Talents) group had a huge turnout for its Christmas luncheon Dec. 6.

Now boasting 26 regular members, the crafters and knitters had a secret Santa gift exchange during which items were stolen once and stolen again as the fun proceeded. Most of the women also participated in a cookie exchange that showcased delicious delights that were taken home to enjoy.

Craft bazaar a success

Christmas music and fruit cake welcomed shoppers to the Lone Butte Christmas craft bazaar on Dec. 3 at the Lone Butte Community Hall.

Nice weather encouraged people to venture out and enjoy browsing the many creations that were on sale for Christmas shoppers. Fused glass, homemade paper, knitting, baking, soaps and fine artwork were on display, while the concession kept everyone fed with muffins, hotdogs and burgers throughout the day.

It was a successful day for everyone!

Volleyball champs

Horse Lake Elementary School’s Grade 6 volleyball team celebrated when the players took top place at the Nov. 30 tournament they hosted.

They beat both 100 Mile and Mile 108 elementary school teams for the title.

The Grade 7 students also did well in their tournament at the Mile 108 taking third position.

Spirit Day

Horse Lake Elementary School was bubbling with Christmas spirit on Dec. 9 when students were encouraged to wear Christmas hats, reindeer antlers or other creative Christmas attire for the day.

Participants who dressed up earned points for their school house team.

The students are counting the days with anticipation, looking forward the holiday break. The last day of school is Dec. 16, with classes resuming Jan. 3.

Hopefully, some fresh snow will fall and mild weather will prevail for some tobogganing fun.
