Clinton hosts restorative justice forum

The Clinton Restorative Justice Society is hosting a no-cost training session on March 11-13.

Restorative justice is an alternative to the criminal justice system and has been used several times in Clinton.

People interested in learning more or participating in restorative justice should call Chris Watt at 250-459-2489 or Liz Engelhart at 250-459-7002 to register for the forum.

Space is limited so call by Feb. 24.

Clinton Winterfest

Clinton Winterfest 2011 runs Feb. 12-27 with activities for all ages and interests.

A men’s and ladies bonspiel will be held at the Clinton Curling Club, Feb. 18-20. Drop by and watch the action.

The Clinton Legion is hosting a crib tournament at 7 p.m., Feb. 23, a pool tournament at 7 p.m., Feb. 24 and a Sno-fest Dance at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25.

The Clinton Lions Club hosts a Texas Hold-em fun tournament Feb. 26 beginning at 1 p.m. in Clinton Memorial Hall. Learn to play or play for fun. Cash out chips at 5 p.m. for play money and bid on prizes to be auctioned off.

The Chili Cook-off Contest also begins at 5 p.m. in the hall. Bring your chili and see who makes the best in town. Pay 25 cents to taste and vote. A $5 chili and bun supper is also available, and is sponsored by the Clinton Lions Club.

Then it’s off to the arena for the Firemen’s Broomball Challenge.

Feb. 27 is being billed as Hockey Night in Clinton at the 47 Mile Sports Complex, with opening ceremonies at 2 p.m. A Kids Skills Competition and Kids Hockey Game will follow.

A Men’s Skills Competition is tentatively scheduled for 4 to 5 p.m. The Over 30/Under 30 men’s hockey game starts at 7 p.m., with raffle draws between periods.

The concession, raffle and draws all day Sunday are sponsored by Integris Credit Union and Insurance with the proceeds going to the Clinton Recreation Commission and minor hockey.

The challenge is on for the Clinton Communities in Bloom Snow/Ice Sculpture Competition. Make your sculpture now (while we have snow) and call Val at 250-459-0055 or Susan at 250-459-2224 to take a picture of your entry or e-mail your picture to bissat@bcinternet.net.

All photos will be displayed at the hall and will be judged Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

Bag sale

St. John’s United Church Thrift Shoppe will hold a Bag Sale Day on Feb. 25 from noon to 4 p.m.
