Local resident Ted Pappas was one of the appraisers at the Clinton Museum 'Treasure Hunt' fundraiser on May 22. Here he showed off a set of Mary Gregory mugs.

A large number of appraisals were done in Clinton on May 22 at the Clinton Museum fundraiser.

Ted Pappas and Doug Carnegie appraised a number of interesting items, including jewelry, glassware, photos and memorabilia.

Each appraisal cost $5 and several people brought more than one item to have appraised.

Heritage Week

The Clinton and District Economic Development Society challenged local business owners to get into the Western Heritage spirit by decorating their establishments and dressing the part for at least one day.

May 26 was chosen as the day the businesses would be judged.

The Integris Credit Union and Insurance Services was declared the “best decorated” and the staff also got the nod for the “best dressed.”

Staff members were all dressed in hillbilly garb, while the building was decorated inside and out with heritage items. They also carried the theme over to the parade on Saturday riding in a battered hillbilly truck.

Old Timers Tea

Clinton Memorial Hall was abuzz with laughter and conversation May 27, as friends gathered for the Annual Old Timers Tea.

Local residents and out-of-town visitors enjoyed snacks, coffee or tea and spent time together reminiscing.

The volunteers who prepared the treats and the students who helped serve and clear up afterward all did a great job.

Annual Parade

For the most part, the weatherman co-operated during the annual Rodeo Parade on May 28.

The cloudy skies and cool weather did little to curb the enthusiasm of the participants or the bystanders. There were a number of imaginative floats and entries in the parade.

The final results were as follows: Best Overall went to the Clinton 4-H Club; Best Costume was captured by the Shyanne Antoine Group; and Most Original went to the Integris Credit Union and Integris Insurance.

Best Overall Auto went to Ashcroft Mayor Andy Anderson with his mini, followed by Clinton Mayor Roland Stanke in his Mustang.

Non-Profit Youth: first went to the Clinton 4-H entry, second to the Majorettes and third to Minor Soccer.

First in Non-Profit Adult was the Kamloops Pipe Band, with the Clinton Wellness Centre and Cloverdale Rodeo second and third respectively.

Best Commercial: first, Clinton Irly Bird; second, Integris Credit Union and Insurance; and third, Munro Feed.

Best Out-of-Town was the Cloverdale Rodeo, with second going to the 100 Mile House ‘Log Home Capital’ float.

The Shyanne Antoine Group with their Cowboys and Indians entry took first in the equestrian. Spencer Jodrey on the mini pony for Munro Feeds was second, and Selina and Cody Ambler were third with their pack-horse entry.

Annual yard sale

The Clinton Health Care Auxiliary will host its annual yard sale May 11 in Cahill’s yard, across the highway from the Cariboo Lodge.

There will be fresh baking, plants, books, and a lot of miscellaneous items up for grabs. The funds raised will be used to purchase some of the extras for the Clinton Health and Wellness Centre.

Come out and find a bargain and help a good cause.
