For 18 years, Christian churches of 100 Mile House have banded together to put on Community Christmas Dinner for area residents.

"We served a total of 420 plates this year," says organizer Gudrun Schneider. "Some people were standing, but everyone got to enjoy the food."

She adds six or seven churches helped this year.

Schneider and her co-organizer Carol Ewing say they are grateful to everyone who contributed to the dinner.

Schneider says there were wonderful entertainers performing during the evening, including Jocelyn Ryan, Nathania Hindmarsh, Tricia Gage, Vanessa Reynolds, and the Generation Discipleship Students from Cariboo Christian Life Fellowship who put on a hilarious and very entertaining skit.

At the entrance to the hall, people were invited to put their names in a draw box, and Schneider says five lucky people took home $25 gift certificates for groceries.

"We couldn't have done it without all the volunteers. Between setup, cleanup and serving, we had 45 to 50 people helping out."

She adds Robert Stockford did a wonderful job as emcee.

"This dinner is held to show God's spirit throughout the community during these special times."
