Cadets preparing to celebrate 40th anniversary

The 2887 Rocky Mountain Rangers Royal Canadian Army Cadets will be celebrating the Corps' 40th anniversary year on May 28.

The Cadets are a part of the Canadian Cadet Organization, which provides a program for young people ages 12 through 18 years.

Cadet activities include, but are not limited to, citizenship, marksmanship, bushcraft, map and compass, orienteering, abseiling (rappelling), canoeing, biathlon, band and other outdoor activities.

The Corps is jointly sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion and the Canadian Forces, in partnership with the Army Cadet League of Canada.

This year's Annual Cadet Review (ACR) will be held at the Horse Lake Training Centre on Horse Lake Road beginning at 1 p.m.

This event will have a series of displays of Cadet activities, as well as the awards ceremonies for end-of-training-year achievements.

All former Cadets and friends of the Corps are invited to attend and to participate in the day’s events. Former officers and volunteers will also be on hand for the 40th ACR.

Attendees last year included Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod, Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett, as well as representatives from the District of 100 Mile House and both branches 100 Mile #260 and Forest Grove #261 of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Parents, young people, or any other community members are invited to come and help celebrate the Corps’ 40th year.
