Did you have a spring or early summer wedding and then lose your gown?

100 Mile Laundromat owner Andrew Hofmarks is in a quandary over how to find the owner of an abandoned wedding dress dropped off about five months ago.

Hofmarks says he had stepped out of the laundromat briefly, and upon his return, found the dress in a zippered protective bag laying on one of the tables.

There was no note, so he awaited instructions to come in regarding what its owner wanted done with the dress, Hofmarks explains. After a time, he went ahead and cleaned the dress, thinking the owner must have intended that service surely and would not leave it indefinitely.

However, summer stretched on and no one came back for it, so now that winter is approaching, Hofmarks says he is going to pull the plug on storing the abandoned dress at the end of November.

"I could sell it, but I don't want to do that. So, I thought I'd give it away, but then decided I'll give them one more chance, for somebody to say 'shoot, my husband dropped it off at the wrong place, and I didn't know where it was,' or something like that.

"I've cleaned it, so if they can identify it, they can come and claim it before Nov. 30."

He figures it was either lost or forgotten, and seems to be of good quality, so if no one claims the gown, Hofmarks plans to donate it to the 100 Mile Performing Arts Society for theatre costumes.

If this is your wedding dress and you can identify it, call Hofmarks at 250-395-3635, or stop by the 100 Mile Laundromat at 4-460 Birch Ave., in Owen Square, across from the library.
