Bike Rodeo not going ahead

Bleak weather forecast resulted in postponement for outdoor event

A bike rodeo planned for this weekend at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre has been postponed until the spring, organizers confirmed on Sept. 26.

Weather was the driving factor behind the decision to postpone the Oct. 1 rodeo, Crime Stoppers spokesperson Darrel Warman says, adding that with rain and chilly temperatures in the forecast, volunteers thought it would be best to hold off.

“We want all our hard work to draw a good number of participants and if it’s cold and miserable, we do not think that will be the case in lousy weather,” Warman wrote in an email to volunteers.

An event of a similar format – with RCMP detachment members on-hand offering bicycle safety tips to children of all ages – will be planned for late April or early May, Warman explains.
