The annual Heart and Stroke Foundation (H&SF) Big Bike Ride is once again coming to 100 Mile House and the local event headed by the energetic and enthusiastic April Roberts.

The TIB Jones & Friends team, lead by Roberts, received the Spirit Award from H&SF for its efforts in 2011.

The foundation gives the Spirit Award to the team in each community that earns the most points, either by registering the team early, registering and fundraising online, having members raise more than $300 each, costumes, a full team, having a team cheer, or showing up on the event day with pledge forms and pledges.

Most of all, according to the foundation, the team that has shown the most spirit at the event with their enthusiasm earn this award.

This is always a fun time for a really good cause, says Roberts.

"I have five teammates so far, but I need 29 all together." She adds the call for participants comes in plenty of time to sign up and raise pledges.

The name of the team, TIB Jones & Friends, is in honour of Roberts’ father who passed away at the age of 62 from a stroke.

For more information, call Roberts at 250-395-4421, people can also register or donate on line at www.bigbike.ca.
