100 Mile House and area students have recently graduated from or have earned awards, bursaries or scholarships from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).
100 Mile House
Graduates: Gino DeSandoli, BEd education; Denise Lendi, BSc biology; Morgan Melnyk, BComm international business; and Margaux Schilling, BSW social work.
Award recipients: Jessica Blewitt, Graduate Entrance Scholar-ship; G. DeSandoli, UNBC In-Course Bursary; and Shane Doddridge, Suncor Energy Foundation and Undergraduate Award in Environ-mental Study; Cory Hackett, Arne & Lesley Calson Under-graduate Scholarship; D. Lendi, UNBC In-Course Bursary; and M. Melnyk, Pulp, Paper and Woodworkers of Canada Local 9 Bursary and UNBC Scholars Award.
Melnyk is one of the students profiled in a series of new videos that depict aspects of the UNBC experience. He was active in residence and the student society and described his life as a student in the short video about him.
108 Mile Ranch

Lac la Hache
Award winner: Wendy McRae, Canfor Legacy Undergraduate Scholarship and BMO Bank of Montreal Aboriginal Scholarship.
Lone Butte
Award winners: Teresa Brewis, Graduate Entrance Scholarship and UNBC Masters Tuition Scholarship; Allison Matfin, UNBC Scholars Award; Heather Sawatsky, Computer Science Entrance Award and Raven Scholarship.
Matfin, a first-year student, has the opportunity to earn an UNBC degree tuition-free after receiving UNBC Scholars Award this past year. As long as she maintains a B average, she can have her tuition waived for an entire bachelor’s degree program.
