Arts council receives grant

The BC Arts Council (BCAC) is handing out its latest round of grant money

The BC Arts Council (BCAC) is handing out its latest round of grant money and has allotted 100 Mile & District Arts Council (OMDAC) $3,470.

The money is part of $8.36 million, which will be dispersed throughout British Columbia to support arts and culture.

OMDAC president Gordon Hoglund says the amount is representative of what his organization generally receives from BCAC on an annual basis and he's content with the amount.

"We certainly appreciate receiving the grant money. It's about what we asked for."

He adds the funds will be redistributed in the form of grants to the council's 10 or 11 members to help them cover their operating costs.

The council also funds three scholarships at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School annually, and brings in cultural performances when it can.

Additional money is generated each year by OMDAC fundraisers, such as its annual South Cariboo Winter Arts & Crafts Fair, and the group also receives grant money from the District of 100 Mile House.
