Fourteen members of the South Green Lake and Watch Lake-North Green Lake volunteer fire departments successfully completed the B.C. Workplace Emergency First Aid OFA Level 1 Equivalent training.

The firefighters also achieved their CPR Level A and also received training on the Automated External Defibrillator. The eight-plus-hour course was held at the Green Lake Snowmobile Clubhouse on May 13.

This means all of the full-time firefighters on these two fire departments are now trained to assist in emergency situations requiring first aid, CPR and AED action.

Fishing Derby

The annual family friendly Watch Lake/Green Lake Fishing Derby is slated for June 3-4. Once again the Watch Lake Lodge Guest Ranch is hosting the event.

There will be plenty of fishing – a seven-pound-plus rainbow trout won the big cash prizes last year.

There will be pancake breakfasts both mornings; a refreshment garden and concession at 11 a.m. both days; and a pig roast on Saturday around 6 p.m.

Bookmobile

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District Bookmobile will be at the South Green Lake Fire Hall from 10 to 11 a.m. and 70 Mile General Store from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 25 and June 15.
