The 70 Mile House and Area Community Funds Society held a meeting at the Seventy Mile Access Centre (SMAC) on Nov. 2 to go over the newly formed society, which is registered with the Kamloops Foundation.

The purpose of the society is to provide support and incentives for individuals to enhance their community by furthering their education.

The catchment area includes North Bonaparte Road to Pressy Lake, 70 Mile House, Green Lake and Watch Lake residents.

The fund was formed because people wanted a legacy for the 70 Mile House School, which later became SMAC.

Anyone can contribute to this worthwhile cause and the society executive hopes donations will become tax deductible in the months to come.

Society executive members are as follows: president Gail Mosley; treasurer Robin Rusaw; secretary Sue Wheeler; and directors Dennis Tupman and Vic Popiel. Call Dennis at 250-456-2302 for more information about the society.

Craft store

If you are looking for gorgeous Christmas ornaments, gifts or jewelry, the local crafters are busy as elves making all kinds of interesting things.

Take an afternoon and visit the 70 Mile House Craft Store with its whimsical ideas for everyone. They are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the winter.

If you are talented in any interesting crafts, feel welcome to bring them into the store and one of the girls will help you set up a display.
