The Fireworks display was very successful in the meadow below the Green Lake Snowmobile Club clubhouse with a turnout of 150 to 200 people at the South Green Lake Festival of Lights.
Aaron Burwell and Sam Connor did a great job setting up and lighting the fireworks that lit up the sky for around 22 minutes.
There was free hot chocolate for youngsters and adult visitors.
There was also a warm campfire near the clubhouse that people gathered around during the fireworks. Some people even roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.
Fireworks committee lead Rita Dixon said next year she will encourage people to bring their own chairs so they can sit down while they keep warm around the campfire and watch the light show.
The South Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department had an apparatus onsite with several firefighters in turnout gear in case they were needed.
Donations were fantastic, although they will need more to meet next year's target, Dixon said, adding the committee really appreciated the people who made donations.
After the fireworks display was completed and people were leaving, Burwell and some of his friends cleaned up the fire pit area, and committee members Maureen Bell, Pat Graham and Dixon cleaned up the inside of the clubhouse.
“Thank you, everyone, for donating and showing up to support this community event,” Dixon said. She also thanked specific community members including Burwell, Lori Spencer, Graham, Bell, Carol Taylor and Warren Johnson.
