Employer assistance

Area employers have an opportunity to receive financial assistance so they can hire youth employees.

The Youth Skills BC (YSBC) workplace pilot program is a new program, offering British Columbia employers a $2,000 hiring incentive (up to three employees at $2,000 each) to hire eligible youth between the ages of 15 and 29.

The YSBC program, funded through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Agreement, has been specifically created as an easy-to-use program for employers and employees.

There is also an additional training allowance, of up to $1,000, available should an employer wish to train their new employee externally.

The criteria for the employer to qualify for YSBC is it must have been in business for a minimum of one year, and is in good standing with WCB.
