The South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) has a new manager at the helm, as Lisa Carr took over the position at the beginning of September.

"There is still a lot to learn," says Carr.

She has been in the health-care industry for four years and is on call as casual worker at Williams Lake’s Cariboo Memorial Hospital in the X-ray department as a booking clerk, as well as at the switchboard.

"But, I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting involved in this great community."

Carr, her husband, Matthew and their two elementary school aged children moved up to the area from Ladner in March 2010. Matthew works at Central GM and an added bonus to this area is that her grandparents live here, too.

"I miss the smaller community, Delta grew so much, so quickly, and I didn't like the hectic pace. This is a wonderful place to raise children and be a part of the community."

Carr says she lived in 100 Mile House as a baby before her parents moved to the Coast. She and her husband are refinishing their log home and landscaping their yard.

"I'm not going to miss the rat race."
