The 8th annual Hans Saenger Memorial Shoot organized by the Forest Grove and District Rod & Gun Club on May 7, was well attended and went off without a hitch. The shooting range is located off Canim-Hendrix Lake Road in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees.

The weather was pleasantly sunny with only a little wind, making for a perfect day outdoors. The tendered BBQ with chilly and salad lunch was delicious as was the cake dessert which everyone attending very much enjoyed.

Access is limited to members and guests, and many a sign warning about not trespassing the surrounding area for safety purposes is posted which is very important to the club. Additional rules and regulations for those using the range are posted as further safety precautions.

The Forest Grove and District Rod & Gun Club caters to handgun and rifle target practice as well as trap shoots. The club itself was established in 1935 and has undergone an impressive revival over the past ten years in particular.

More improvements are needed and planned for the near future.

After lunch, men and women lined up to take out the clay pigeons being catapulted through the air at great speed. Five shooters per sequence got the opportunity to fire at their target in rotations of five, hits being counted for each person and round to determine the overall winner.

The club organizers plan to arrange on average two shoots every month between May and October, depending on weather conditions. New members are always welcome.
