The Clinton May Ball Rodeo has reported a successful weekend.

In part due to the 30-degree weather, hundreds of spectators came out to cheer on the cowboys and cowgirls, and the attendance was one of the best ever on Saturday.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the new feature event – The Rank Mini Bareback Riding!

Children aged 6-9 and 10-13 competed in two different categories, riding bucking mini ponies for a six-second ride.

Cade Allison of Clinton was the overall champion. Every competitor walked away with a prize, thanks to a sponsorship from Munro’s Feed and Supply in Clinton.

A large number of local cowboys and cowgirls entered which added to excitement from the crowd.

Local Cowboy Colby McCullough took home second place in the Jr Steer Riding winning 226.98 and Hailey Ambler took home second in the Pee Wee Barrel Racing winning 124.80.

Appaloosa put on a great performance at the rodeo dance, the dance floor was full all night and there were many compliments on how great the music was.

On Sunday, there were a couple special guests to help celebrate Clinton and Canada’s 150th birthday – a mechanical bull was set up for kids in the barn and a mini doughnut vendor came and set up as well.

The famous Clinton Packhorse Race was also a real crowd pleaser with Allan Bolster and Rollie Higginbottom taking home first place both days.

A big thank you goes out to all the Sponsors who helped put on the Clinton Rodeo- with who it would not happen.

A big thank you also goes out to the volunteers who worked for hours on end to put on the rodeo.

In two weeks the Clinton Ag will host the Little Britches Rodeo (June 10 and 11).

Organizers are still looking for some volunteers and sponsors for the Little Britches, so anyone willing to help out would definitely be appreciated.
