Visitor Centre is not open?

To the editor:

Why would a visitor centre be closed on Saturday, May 13? We had planned our trip to stop at the 100 Mile House Visitor Centre to locate an RV Site. There was a lot of activity outside - the SPCA plant sale, a very worthy cause.

We stopped along with approximately 50 other people who all left disappointed as they found the door to the Visitors Centre was locked. Why?

People were overheard saying they would continue to another town as it appeared obvious 100 Mile House was not interested in their visit.

All it would take is one person to man the office and provide welcome information encouraging travellers to stop and stay giving much-needed business to this beautiful and serene area.

People do travel all-year-round and the tourist booth should be open by May 1.

We ourselves travel early spring and into late fall but never during the summer as that should be reserved for families with school-aged children. District of 100 Mile House, please open your doors to visitors on real time, not Cariboo time.
