It is with great sadness that the family of Willy Scherrer announces his peaceful passing on November 5, 2007 at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Willy will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Martha and his son, Roy. Willy will be fondly remembered by his brother, Hans, his sister, Alice, and remaining relatives in Switzerland. Willy was predeceased by his older brother, Paul. Willy was born in Egnach, Switzerland on January 23, 1925. After learning to be a baker and traveling the world with the merchant navy, Willy came to Canada in 1956. In 1959, Willy married Martha and together they opened their bakery, Cambie Swiss Pasteries, in South Vancouver which they operated until their retirement in 1990. They moved to 108 Mile Ranch where they enjoyed their retirement with many new friends. Over the years, Willy’s passion for driving led to many family trips throughout the province that he loved. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all our friends for their love and support during our period of loss. Memorial donations in the memory of Willy may be made to the B.C. Lung Association.
