Ronald Gladstone WELLS

April 16, 2006

July 26, 1911 - April 16, 2006

Aviator, adventurer, photographer and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, Ron Wells passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side on Easter Sunday 2006 in 100 Mile House. Originating from a pioneer Chilliwack dairy farming family, Ronnie became one of Canada’s most respected bush pilots while logging over 40,000 air miles over 45 years. His career took him from coast to coast to coast, always with cameras in the cockpit. His photographs have graced the covers of international aviation magazines and his aerial movie footage of Canada’s Arctic represents unique and now vanished 1950’s images of the natural wonders of the region. Ron loved the outdoors, always had a good dog by his side, was an accomplished gardener and had the best fed birds in the Cariboo. A devoted family man, he got tremendous enjoyment out of his seven great grandaughters in later life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Irene (Rene) Wells, daughter Nancy Wells, son Blaine Wells, daughter in law Gayle Wells, grandaughters September Grychuck (Ron), Shannon Fry (Dwayne) and great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, and Samantha Grychuck and Jamie, Crystal, Kelly and Hannah Fry. He was predeceased by six brothers and one great grandaughter.

The Wells family hosted a memorial service at their home in 100 Mile House on April 21, 2006 celebrating the extraordinary life of this humble, remarkable man.
