Norman Wilfred GILES

July 30, 2004

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Wilfred Giles following a brief illness in Vancouver’s Saint Paul’s Hospital on July 30, 2004. Born May 5, 1932 in Manitoba and raised in Minnedosa, Manitoba, the family moved to the Fraser Valley in 1948. He spent his early years in the lower mainland employed as a millwright and fabricator and his later years as a custodian with School District #27. Norm is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Al and Les. He is survived by his loving wife Marion; son Daniel (Linda); daughters Karen (Ron), Lisa (Mark); and grandchildren Brent (Tamara, Jesse), Craig (Alexis), Stacey (Joe), Kelly and Cole. Father never found enough hours in a day, or days in his life to satisfy his extremely creative mind and hands. Everyone who met him was sure to ask him at one time or another, “Norm, could you take a look at this for me?” He especially enjoyed his time spent with family and friends on camping trips, and his companionship, stories and unforgettable laugh will be sadly missed. The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and extreme kindness during these most trying times. A memorial will be held in his honour on September 11, 2004 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the 100 Mile House Lodge. All are most welcome. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. No flowers please.
