Mary Margaret McKenzie (Rita) Larson

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of our mom Rita Larson on Feb. 25, 2004. She passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Penticton, B.C. Rita was born in Kimberly, B.C., the fifth eldest of nine children of Ninian and Marion Dougal. Rita will be remembered as a long time resident and active community member of Bridge Lake. In September of 1948 she married Jack Larson. Their wedding took place at the Howe Down Hall at the Double T Guest Ranch in Bridge Lake. Then building a home in the townsite, they raised seven children. Rita was predeceased by husband Jack, daughter Linda, grandson Ryan, brothers Nin and Alex Dougal and sisters Clemy Dougal and Agnus Branigan. Survived by sons: Jack (Gail), Bridge Lake; Wayne (Yvonne), 100 Mile House; Mark (Shelley), 100 Mile House; Michael (Lydia), 108 Mile and daughters Marilyn (Lorne), Penticton; Leslie (Scott), Penticton and son-in-law Leo Nadeau, Campbell River. Rita had 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren whom she dearly loved, as well as sisters Isabel and Thelma and brothers Bill and Jim. Rita will be missed by her loving family and friends. By her request, there will be no service.
