June Arlette MURTOUGH

October 21, 2016

June 09, 1923 - October 21, 2016

God saw the road was getting rough

And the hills were hard to climb,

So he closed your weary eyelids

And whispered “peace be thine.”

June Murtough, age 93, peacefully completed her earthly journey on October 21st, 2016. June was born June 9, 1923 to Donald and Eleanora Lindsay-Smith of Toungoo, Burma where Donald worked as a Divisional Forest Officer for the British Government. She spent her childhood in Burma. During the Second World War, her family evacuated to India where she met her future husband, Errol Murtough. She immigrated to the UK in 1948 during India’s Independence movement and Errol followed.

June married Errol on February 05, 1948 in Croyden, England. They immigrated to Canada with Errol arriving first in 1956 and June in 1957 with their first 2 children. In 1959 they moved from Vancouver to Williams Lake where they bought property and settled comfortably into Canadian life. In 1967 their 3rd child was born. June worked for Public Health as a stenographer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Errol in 1973 and is survived by son Marc of White Rock, BC; her daughters, Karen Currie of Boston Bar, BC and Tannis Temple of Didsbury, Alberta, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
