With grieving hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Jose on July 21, 2017, at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops at the age of 72.

Predeceased by his son, Roger, in 2010; sisters, Isabel in 1988, Madalena in 2007; and his parents in 2008.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Eulalia; his grandchildren, Brayden and Alyssa; sisters, Lourdes (Rick), Fatima (Jim), Connie; brother, John (Liz); brothers-in-law, Frank, Johnny; and sister-in-law, Ivone (Joe).

Jose was born in Portugal and came to Canada in 1963. He worked for the railroad at the young age of 19 and in 1972, he started at Ainsworth Lumber where he worked until his retirement in 1998.

On May 03, 2017, along with his wife, he became a proud Canadian Citizen.

Joe was known to have a green thumb and his garden was his pride and joy where he spent many enjoyable hours. Having his morning coffee with his wife and close friends at the A&W was another favourite pass time for him.

A loving son, husband, brother, father and grandfather; he will be forever in our hearts.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in 100 Mile. Father Vernantius Ononiwu was the Celebrant. Burial followed in the 100 Mile District Cemetery.

The entire family would like to thank Dr. Street and the doctors and nurses at both 100 Mile District General and Royal Inland Hospitals for the compassion and care given to Jose, during his illness.

They would also like to thank the Catholic Women’s League for providing a lovely luncheon following the service, and the staff of the Cariboo Chilcotin Funeral Service for being so caring and helpful.
