It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Stanga of Lone Butte, BC. John was born in Prince Rupert and lived most of his younger life in the Smithers area. He moved to Fawn Lake in 1958, where he found work in the logging industry. He married in 1962, and raised a family in Lone Butte. Shortly after moving to Lone Butte, he bought his first gravel truck, and continued to haul gravel until he retired in 2004. John re-married in 1988 and remained in Lone Butte with Norma Jean until his passing. John was predeceased by his brother Roy, and is survived by his wife Norma Jean, his sisters Eileen (Stan, deceased) and Helen, brothers Milan and Frank (Joanne), his sons John (Colleen), Brian (Bev), and Lenard (Heidi), his stepchildren Darren (Ellen) and Marlo (Bruce), his grandchildren Jessica, Laura, Andrea, Teri, Stephanie, John, Robert, David, Brock, Emily, Jessie, and Milan. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and his Tequila dog and Sadie cat. John’s favourite pastimes were gardening, reading and spending time with his grandchildren and pets. A celebration of John’s life will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Lone Butte Community Hall at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the Variety Club of BC; 604-320-0505.
