Joe 'Jose' da Silva BATALHA

September 7, 2010

4net

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joe (Jose) da Silva Batalha in his homeland Portugal, on September 7, 2010. Joe was born in Aljustrel, Portugal on June 22, 1929. In 1963 he came to Canada and settled in 100 Mile House. Three years later his wife and children joined him.

Joe was a loyal employee as he worked for over thirty years for Canim Lake Sawmill. Later during his retirement years, he split his time between 100 Mile House and Portugal. During his time with us, Joe thoroughly enjoyed hunting with his sons and socializing with his many friends. He was always the life of the party! However, his first love was always his family.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Fernanda, his children Isabel (Don) Jones, Joe (Michele) Batalha, Ivone (Randy) McComb, Esmeralda (Richard) Cordes, Reynaldo (Kirsten) Batalha; his grandchildren, Darin, Christina, Jason, Natalie (Kyle), Nicole, Sydney, Carson, Jacob, Josh, Sarah; his great grandson Maksim; his siblings, Jack, Frank, Tony, Alfred, Isabel and many nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by his granddaughter Rachel and his sister Otilia.

Joe’s family would like to thank all the extended family and many friends for their sympathy and support.

We will all miss your beautiful smile, your contagious laughter and your funny stories.

Joe Batalha was laid to rest on September 8, 2010 in Aljustrel, Portugal.
