Irene passed away peacefully at her home on Watch Lake, just shy of her 82nd birthday. Born and raised in North Burnaby, Irene lived in Burnaby Heights and Capitol Hill until 2004 when she moved to the Cariboo with husband George to Watch Lake near to where her daughter lives. Prior to her move she was a friendly face at Playland where she and George worked on the midway for many years.
She was a loving, caring and all-round wonderful person; her family meant everything to her. She also had a zest for life; she was funny, playful and always ready for a good joke, a glass of wine or just plain old fun. We will all miss everything about her so much.
Irene is survived by her daughter Shirley (Gord Mitch), son Gord (Angie), her five grandchildren: Terry, Tom, Ashley, Mike and Holly; also her seven great-grandchildren: Talya, Sidney, Hailey, Allison, Jacob, Kyle and Ashton; her brother and sister-in-law Maurice and Mary Marisco and her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George, brother Frank and her parents. No service by request. In lieu of flowers donations to Canuck Place, 1690 Matthews Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. Canada V6J 2T2 (she was a huge fan), or your local S.P.C.A. would be appreciated.
A memorial will be held in the spring of 2011.
